Description

Locating rings are used in plummer block housings to locate the bearing axially. At the locating (fixed) position, a ring is fitted on each side of the bearing outer ring, so the bearing holds the shaft in position. At the non-locating position, the bearing is fitted without locating rings, so it can move axially in the housing as the shaft expands or contracts with temperature.
